We’re looking for a Site Safety Manager to lead safety on a 32-story commercial tower in downtown Chicago, with up to 400 workers on site at peak and live streets on three sides.
You’ll report to Corporate Safety Manager Amara Nwosu and work every day with the superintendent and trade foremen. You’ll have the authority to stop any work, and the support to fix the cause rather than just the symptom.
What you’ll do
- Own the site-specific safety plan and update it as the job moves from foundations to fit-out.
- Review lift plans, fall-protection plans and permits for hot work and confined spaces.
- Run daily inspections and weekly audits, and track findings until they are closed.
- Lead incident investigations and share lessons learned across Corwell sites.
- Coach foremen and run orientation for every new worker on site.
What we’re looking for
- 6+ years in construction safety, including high-rise or heavy commercial work.
- OSHA 500 or 510 authorization; CHST or ASP certification.
- Working knowledge of OSHA 1926 and City of Chicago requirements.
- Confident communicator who can stop work and explain why.
- Degree in occupational safety or equivalent field experience.

About the team
Our safety team has 22 professionals across four regions, with a TRIR of 0.62 last year — well under the industry average. Each site safety manager owns their site, meets with the regional team every week and helps write the standards every Corwell job follows.
“Safety isn’t a department here. It’s the first question in every meeting and the last walk of every day.”
